Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019)

If you want a review for the entire package this ain't it. When I play a shooter for its multiplayer, like this one, there are four main points.

1. Is there team deathmatch?
2. Are the maps good?
3. Does it feel good?
4. Does it fit my very specific demands ?

1 - I don't do objectives. I couldn't tell you if they're fun here but I can tell you that they're there. What I can tell you is that team deathmatch is there, as it always is. Some shooters don't have it, or they have weird versions. I don't play those. So then is it GOOD team deathmatch? Well...

2 - I would probably rate this a 90 like I did the MW2 remake but the maps are a bit hit or miss for me. At first I liked them all but as I played them I realized that there are too many meatgrinder type maps. And you know those types of maps where they're the layout is pretty cool but at the same time they lend themselves to being played in the most boring way possible? There are a few of those here. But mostly it's just that I don't like having so many meatgrinder levels. They're always my least favourite maps. But some of the maps are awesome.

3 - I abandoned CoD for years. I prefer heavier but I do love shooters like Titanfall 2, Halo, etc. Killzone is my favourite shooter series if that tells you anything. But coming back to it these last bunch of years, I've realized that the MW series manages to strike a decent balance. It's still fast and like paper but there is SOME heaviness to it. Or maybe it's just that it's heavier than I remember and that's all on me. But I do like how it feels. So it succeeds in that.

4 - I don't pretend to be objective at all when it comes to shooters. I've laid out my preferences. Ideally, I like 10-15 minute TDM matches where we don't play the same few maps all the time and it feels good to shoot. I also like a good variety of maps but don't love meatgrinder ones (the occasionally one is fine). I probably overrated shooters if they allow me to have that experience. This mostly gets that right.

Well, I need to be explicit about it. For the game bugs, I'd give only 2 stars out of 5, but I quickly learned my way around them (disable shader preload) and I could happily play it without issues.

The story and the feeling of this game are absolutely awesome. In the same year I finished the original game (2007) once, and the remastered version twice (on normal difficulty, and veteran). It's quite amazing and I'm looking forward to replaying it :)

The story was really compelling, and shows some really gruesome sides of war. Plus, if you're a fan of the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare games, I think you'll enjoy seeing some of characters like Captain John Price.

Each mission is pretty different from the next one, and it never really felt like repetitive game play at any point throughout the campaign. Plus, the environmental graphics were beautiful.

I really enjoyed my play-through, even on Veteran difficulty. It was fun enough, that I can see myself playing back through again to try and get some of the achievements I missed.

This was the first Call of Duty game I've played in a couple of years I can't even remember what the last one was that I played -- would've been somewhere around 2015 or 2016 I think. I'm glad I decided to pick back up with this one -- it reminds me why I loved Call of Duty in the first place.

A call of duty campaign where characters had depths, and at points so interesting I didn't want to stop. Being activision I doubt this will continue, but for once, i'd actually say CoD is a good game (Camp / MP).

MP has some huge improvements that has brought the game into modern gaming, looks great, plays great and now you can go between small fast paced games, or large slower (still quite fast) games.
