Pleasantly surprised with this game. Really impressed that the 3DS was able to run a 3D fighting game at 60fps. I like the use of the bottom screen, scrolling the combo list as you input buttons. It's useful while not breaking the game like other games that use the touch screen for macros. I have 4 major complaints: (1) Tag challenge offline could have been improved. Playing with the CPU is dreadful, they should have either let us control both characters or at least choose when to tag-in and out. Thankfully, the player can exploit the input-reading that the enemy CPU does. (2) Not a lot of costume variety, which is surprising for DoA. Kokoro literally has a costume in her icon that isn't available in the base game. (3) Being on a handheld, it's single player only on one console. (4) I'm not great at holds, but I felt like performing holds in this game was way harder than I remembered them being in other DoA's I've played. Overall, a solid fighting game, it plays like I'd expect DoA to play.
