The Wreck got some spotlight when the developer talked about how hard it is to work in the indie space. But I already wanted to play it because the same studio made Bury Me, My Love, which I loved, so I was excited. And rightfully so. It’s kind of a visual novel that explores grief, generational conflict, the unraveling of a marriage and other “heavy” themes in a smart and mature way, respectfully and gently but managing to not get boring or depressing. And that’s also thanks to the correct dosage of “sweet and sour” humour. So, in three or four hours, it manages to do what David Cage wasn’t able to do in thirty years. Sidenote: I wanted to play a French game in French, for once, and they used French actors to do English voiceover with French accents. Crap.
