Finished this one today. Final boos fight was pretty ordinary. Overall though, I did enjoy this and can totally see myself playing botzone to kill time or running through the campaign again for collectibles and trophies.

Knocked out another mission yesterday. I'm getting constantly confused when trying to switch weapons, I keep tapping when it's actually on the touch screen. It is actually an interesting choice given that Guerilla had limited buttons to work with in delivering a console-like FPS experience on the Vita. or Y are universal swaps when playing a FPS so I don't know why they relegated pick-ups and action prompts to .

For me, I believe tapping the screen would have been a neater and more intuitive approach with action prompts. Or even made □ not only reload but also act as a button prompt like other FPS's.

I still think making tapping O run was a stroke of genius.

Finished up a level last night. I'm on mission 6 now so roughly halfway through the game (I believe there are 13 missions in total). I'm having a lot of fun with this one.

With Doom 2016 now playable on the Nintendo Switch, Killzone: Mercenary feels like a subpar experience but I feel that that is an unfair comparison given that this game came out in 2013 on significantly less hardware and with much more limited controls (no clicking analog sticks or dual shoulder buttons).

This game is slow, meticulous and still a lot of fun with some ingenious adjustments to work around the limits of the controls. I'm slowing moving my way through the campaign and having small bursts of gameplay with the multiplayer against bots which is a lot of fun. I've always loved stats in video games and so being able to destroy bots and then see my records is an absolutely awesome feature.

For its time, I imagine this game was absolutely mind-blowing.

Just found out this game is only $25 on the online store. Picked it up (justified because it's so cheap and I haven't played my Vita since I finished Persona 4).

Just found out this game is only $25 on the online store. Picked it up (justified because it's so cheap and I haven't played my Vita since I finished Persona 4).

Completed the first mission and had an absolute blast. I downloaded the botzone to mess around with it and enjoyed it greatly. I might drip feed this one - a level a night or gaming session just to really soak it in. Unlocking trophies is a nice little bonus. If the multiplayer has some drawn out trophies it will most likely keep me coming back.

  • very nice mobile game for Killzone and Shooter Fans
  • very high production quality, feels like a AAA console game
  • controlls on vita are great
  • nice graphics, always playable but sometimes with framedrops
  • many weapons and gadgets to explore, replay value
  • a stupid character always mentions the same thing
  • multiplayer is still on
