Blue Prince is everything I want in an indie game: a unique, creative idea brought to life with expert execution. Its combination of roguelikes and puzzle games feels effortless, with each aspect boosting my enjoyment of the other. Like the best puzzle games, it makes the player feel smart, and like the best roguelikes, it makes the player infinitely hungry for another run. Ultimately, Blue Prince is about mysteries. It harnesses the innate, burning curiosity one feels when seeing a closed door at the end of a hallway and crafts it into an unforgettable experience.

But it suffers mid-late game where many things go from being a little complex to figure out and doable, to frustrating and needing to be googled to not just waste dozens of hours figuring it out. The unifying factor here is the roguelite element - let's you have these unique runs where you feel superpowered or you find random fun connections but then it turns around and makes discovering specific necessary rooms/items a roll of the dice
STILL - such an incredible game worthy of the accolades / playing it and recommend reaching out to google / wikis when you recognize the game got too hard to follow

We do plan on going back to it at some point to "beat" it, but ultimately I think we had a lot of closure. Personally so far my game of the year. Just excellent puzzles.

I'm so close to finishing this game!
I found all the big secrets,
All I need is to open a few bloody doors and I'll be done. Just a few more runs to find the right items and that's it. It'll all be over.

It's seriously time to move on 😅

Hey idk if anyone else is still here but I am most definitely still here. I actually don't even know if there's an exit.

This game started out so strong but I'm really starting to sour on it in the late post-game. Everything after Room 46 is increasingly elaborate and obtuse puzzles with increasingly less payoff for solving them. Unlocking all eight sigils and reaching the very end of the tunnel felt like the video game equivalent of the birthday cake Dwight bought for Mindy on the Office - the one that was just plain white frosting with black icing (print, not cursive) reading: "It is your birthday." Feel like the game gave me a cake that just said: "It is the end of the puzzle."
There's at least one more big post-game puzzle I haven't tackled yet, but I'm seriously doubting whether I want to invest any more time if it's going to lead to yet another anti-climactic end like those. As it now stands, if I were to rate the game today, it's going to be substantially lower than if I had rated it right after reaching Room 46 and just stopped playing at that point. Post-game content shouldn't leave this bad a taste in the mouth :(

There are so many cool games that've come out in the past few weeks I would LOVE to play. Unfortunately I'm being held hostage at Mt. Holly hitting my head against a locked security door trying to figure out what thesE DAMN CHESS PIECES MEAN. And 37 other ongoing mysteries. That I know of.
