FFT A2 - Dropped
This review is for the Nintendo DS version

It's cute, that's for certain.

Idk, I enjoyed the fantasy isekai FF of A1's aesthetic more than this, and that's pretty all you have to back yourself on, when this game is so easy to beat. Tactics to win are several times easier than the average, with pretty much any slight knowledge of a character's mechanic you can exploit the game well. I'm not vibing with these enemy encounters either, they could be far more interesting if they just made them do double damage, and there's no difficulty select at start.

Even still, I think this is a really dumbed down tactical adventure. If you're really dying for more tactics combat this isn't a particularly bad experience but I'd suggest elsewhere. (5/10)

Haven't played any DS/3DS games in quite a while. Started playing this and found myself thinking it looked so much better as a kid. Found some forum posts about DS games looking much sharper on original DS/DSi systems. So I popped the game into an old DSi and damn they weren't kidding. If anyone here is disappointed with how their DS games look and you're playing on a 3DS, I recommend you try them on "original" hardware and see how much of a difference it makes for you.

Solid combat system carried over from previous installation. I do miss the map customization and the Law card system. Both were very dynamic systems that kept the game busy.

I was pretty harsh on this game the other day because I was super salty. Game is super fun because of how customizable it is, but it is still really grindy.

I used to think this was better than the first tactics advance game, but i must have been sleep deprived. This game is unbelievably grindy. Unlike FFT story enemies aren’t scaled to your level so you gotta continually do quests to get exp. Skills are linked to equipment, so you can potentially have to complete a ton of quests with bad equipment just to get certain skills. And whoever designed Illua must hate FF fans. She’s incredibly busted. Insane movement, super fast, high AoE damage, and she can regen herself. I wasted hours trying to beat her when I was level 33 and she was level 50 and I would’ve won until she busted out regen. Guess the game decided I didn’t spend enough time doing everything but the story. The experience would be way more than tolerable if the game wasn’t so darn slow. It feels like a slog to do anything. I also really miss Fire Emblem’s two RN system because missing at 99% more often than enemies missing their 30% is discouraging. I remember really enjoying this gsme before, but the last few hours have left a sour taste in my mouth

Doesn't quite live up to the standard set by the original FFT but I enjoyed this one more than FFTA. I beat the main story but I don't believe I was able to 100% clear the game. Lack of a working DS and copy limits my patience to try for it again, though.
