I gotta be honest, I had never heard of this anime/manga before. But when a fan translation for this Game Gear title surfaced, I figured why not give it a try. And hey, it's actually a really solid platformer. It looks and sounds good for a Game Gear title, controls well, and has a surprising amount of cut scenes. You can play through the levels as two different characters, who each have a unique style of gameplay.
The lead character Zenki is a pipsqueak summoned god or something who can roll in a ball like Sonic the Hedgehog, but for boss battles can turn into a Saint Seiya looking guy who can punch and shoot various magic abilities. For the regular levels, you can also play as the cute anime girl who summoned Zenki. She's like a shrine priestess I assume, and shoots fireballs at enemies. I preferred playing as her; Zenki controls a bit janky in comparison. All in all this is a fun game well-worth checking out for any Game Gear players out there.
