I think over the last few years I've become a fan of the comedy stylings of David Szymanski. I got interested in his work after first playing Dusk, and then Iron Lung, and Squirrel Stapler. When I saw his new game was out, I was kind of psyched. He has a real way of mixing comedy and horror. Both enhanced each other in his games.
I think The Pony Factory is probably the scariest of his games that I've played. I've not played Doom 3, but it does seem to work similarly to how I've heard it described. Swapping the gun and flashlight is a big gameplay mechanic, though occasionally you can see enemies via the muzzle flash from the gun. Quite simple really. This game is one of the scariest games I've played in a while, though. But if you're someone who doesn't like getting surprised, you won't like this game.

The pony factory could easily be run by the scientists you would learn about in a Resident Evil game.
There's not much to The Pony Factory. Gameplay-wise I think it's a bit better than Squirrel Stapler, but it doesn't have as good of an ending as it or Iron Lung.
I'd recommend it if you like survival horror.
