Decent for what it is
This review is for the Nintendo Switch version

The Nintendo estore is awash with cheap little overpromising mobile ports and dinky junk games and I’ve been burned more than once. This game was, however, much better than I was expecting. A little bit like a pocket X-Com, you lead your squad of teammates through various missions fighting aliens, discovering secrets, and gaining experience and gear. The missions differ enough to stay interesting. Sometimes it’s a simple tactical grid where you find cover and blast aliens. There’s puzzle stages, stages that require teamwork, extra stuff to uncover for bonuses, bluffs to avoid, and benchmarks to try and beat. I actually went back and replayed many of the missions to gain better gear before taking on the final boss. Story is important to me and, while it’s not the Witcher 2 it’s passable.

The game isn’t anywhere close to a AAA game but as indie Switch games go, it was worth the $11 I spent. I gave it 4 stars though it’s a 3 star game with an extra star for breaking expectations.
