I don't mind the:

  • repetitive gameplay
  • story so far (mind you, I'm only a couple of hours in)
  • combat
  • so forth

What I do mind, and is ruining the whole experience, is the menu screen which pops up after completing every mission. I don't care what I've unlocked, I just want to play. It's ruining my immersion.

Hey guys! I know everyone hated Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League... but I most admit that I am having fun. I was skeptical during the first 2 hours, but now it is getting some momentum. Maybe it will get bad later? Don't tell me. Let me enjoy it while I can. So, why so much hate? Was it because of the Battle Pass and microtransactions? I never pay attention to those things, so I don't judge games with that model of profiteering anymore. Unless it is a pay to win model. That is a problem. But if you want to sell shinny things to people who like to spend money on that, well... honestly that's their decision and their problem.

Whatever you might think about this game, the new true ending added as part of the latest update is just...ridiculous. I'm going to eventually play and finish the game, but for them to basically just say "Yeah, forget all the major story beats of the main game - Let's just act like this never happened" has to be both unsatisfying and comical for those who stuck through it all (I certainly giggled a bit when i read it). I suppose this was the only way for them to realistically be able to continue with new installments in the Arkham universe though.

But where have I seen that method of story telling before...hmmm...oh yeah, that's right!

This game will be free to claim on July 16th for any Amazon Prime members. Which means it'll probably be given for free in Epic or featured in a Humble Choice in the next few months.

Bought this for £15.

Checked the store to see how bad the microtransactions were. All the cosmetics are rubbish.

Checked the battlepass and it literally the same skin only in different colours throughout.

If you read my reviews, you know I defended the Suicide Squad game when every other gamer was hating on it. I still think its fun and that the live-service elements weren't anything bothersome.

Till now.

It added a battle pass (this is a $69.99 game) and more microtransactions. But the worst thing is that they promised the Joker was gonna be a free character... and it is if you don't mind grinding for hours to get it. Conveniently, you can also buy him inmediatly for ten bucks.

The fanbase is really angry and some streamers are saying they're gonna quit the game.

I thought Suicide Squad was destined to fail because of the "discourse" that surrounded it. But here it is in the top sellers list of the week.

Sometimes I forgot that the Internet doesn't reflect "reality".

This game may actually be worse than Redfall. Redfall has problems - don't mistake me. But Redfall at least has a goal. It has a purpose outside of being a live servuce product. It's an 80s-inspired horror game where all the heroes have unique skill sets. It has a very strong art style.

Suicide Squad is a product. It is no different than a Harley Quinn blanket at Hot Topic. It is a brand stamped onto an assembly line product. Except this blanket asks you for extra money to add tassels. Constantly.

This game is vapid, uninspired, repetitive, and a waste of everyone's time. It has some cool cutscenes. Some. But getting to those cutscenes requires hours of grinding out chores. This game is a piece of trash. Straight up. Nobody should buy this game.

13,500 peak concurrent players on Steam by the way. Redfall, which doesn't have a massively popular license, and was free on Game Pass from day one peaked at 6,000. For the paid version. On Steam. When a free version exists.

Ouch.

Been loosely following the updates and news surrounding this, and whilst it's not looking too great for the team at Rocksteady, I'm kinda tired of the focus on running this game down before it's released.

IGN published this article today talking about how the game is "already" discounted based on an eBay listing. To me this doesn't help the dog piling that is already taking place. The comments section of the article makes it clear the sort of conversation it conjures up.

I have no real affinity for live service and I'm not too eager on them quietly adding Denuvo to the game before it launches either. I also think the people who bought the deluxe edition for early access should get compensated for the game being pulled today due to a bug. I may also be missing info which does justify a lot of the backlash, however i think it's worth remembering that the people who are trying to make this game a reality are human beings, human beings who I'm sure all want to be proud of their work.

I just want people to slow down on the consistent bashing, voice their genuine concerns calmly, and be kind to one another:)

So WB lifted the NDA on the Kill The Justice League alpha they held late last year.

Which means I can now talk about the game outside of the group people I know who also participated.

I’ll start with this, I’m deeply torn between waiting to buy it sometime after launch and very badly wanting to play it again, almost badly enough to consider buying it at launch.

I liked it more than any of the time I put into Marvel’s Avengers. I didn’t particularly enjoy the traversal or combat. It wasn’t bad, but it was a bit lacking in real oomf. But I loved the characters and the story that developed during the time I played. In that way it reminded me a bit of Guardians of the Galaxy with mediocre gameplay yet truly enjoyable characters and story.

I won’t give specific mission or story content away because I don’t want to spoil it but I will say I went and finally played Batman Arkham Knight because I was itching to get back to some of the characters in Kill the Justice League. Yes, like Harley. Very much Harley. But others as well.

But I do have concerns about the way certain elements will play out, and that’s probably the biggest factor in my wanting to wait at least a little bit before taking the plunge.

I will say I am a bit surprised at how much they delayed it (all the way to February), especially considering word on the street is that it's just to polish the game as-is rather than to do any major changes. Hmmm...... I do hope they can make something good out of this.
