This game has very pretty stages. Prettier than the original trilogy at least. (Haven't played DMC4 and DMC5).

This actually gives me a very Bayonetta 2 vibe. Looks a lot like the Paradiso sections.

Played during free trial of xbox game pass. Beat on Nephilim difficulty. This was my first Devil May Cry game; I am not really a fan of the series or genre but I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this game. The game started off with a slight negative from the ridiculous showboating Dante does in the opening cutscene, but this was quickly forgotten due to the compelling gameplay and lack of ridiculous showboating in the rest of the game.

I found the controls to be intuitive and had no trouble controlling the game. I am not a fan of button combo fighting game style combat so I focused mostly on simple normal attacks and dodging. I also could not care less about the style system in the game and had to laugh at the way the game mockingly says "dirty" when I got the worst possible score. Oh yeah game, well screw you I killed the enemies and did not die so that is an epic win in my book. I really liked how enemies have predictable move sets and telegraph their attacks; does not mean the game is easy but it does mean that you can properly learn how to defeat each enemy. As the game progressed, I expanded my moveset to efficiently defeat each type of enemy. I used a lot of aerial moves to create distance, the angelic weapons for area damage and a ranged sword attack for those annoying ninjas. I did not use the demonic weapons much. Fairly late I got the angel/trickster dodge move (or whatever it is called) which essentially allows you to teleport around. That move is AWESOME and allowed me to breeze through the rest of the game.

Next I played the Virgil dlc. Though it was not as good as the base game I did like how Virgil has enough different mechanics to make the game interesting while not being so different as to force you to learn from scratch. Despite how much I enjoyed the game I will probably never buy it.
