Decent enough graphics for the format, but otherwise poorly designed. The main problem is that there just isn't enough interesting tactical decisions to be made. The slow pace of the game just makes it a grinding rock-paper-scissors affair. Just make sure you tap the right enemies with the right heros selected and, unless you are badly under-leveled, you will win. The writing is bland, even for a Final Fantasy game (yes, I went there), with a story that feels so random and contrived I gave up on caring about any of it only 30 minutes into playing. And Penelo's re-design turns her into a 10 year old girl with pigtails. Blech.
