Whyyyy is it so much fun to play random strangers on Tetris?? I notice I do much better in the daytime hours when the Americans are awake vs. the nightime hours when it's mostly the Japanese gamers who smoke me.
Sadly my one-week Nintendo Online trial is ending soon. So it'll be back to the CPU only mode for me.

I decided to give it another shot as I’ve been in the mood and was watching a streamer play it. After a few YouTube videos and some practice, I’m back in that classic battle royale grind for the #1 finish. Keep getting top 5 or 10 so it’s gonna kill me inside if I don’t get the win lol. Went back to some Puyo Puyo Tetris and Tetris Effect: Connected today too and they definitely all fit a particular mood, so I guess this is my life for the next few days...

This is one I've played off and on over the past year or so. Tetris 99 seemed to get everyone excited about Tetris again for a hot minute, and IDK maybe it's still popular. While the actual Tetris of it all plays fine, I just didn't care for its take on the whole battle royale thing. It's too chaotic, all the opponent screens are too small to see anything, there's too much going on at any given moment to parse any of it properly. So I just end up playing Tetris how I normally would, and then losing once enough people have attacked me with their rows of trash blocks that explode from the bottom of my screen. You can pay to unlock some regular Tetris modes, which is nice. But I already have Puyo Puyo Tetris for all of that.
This one at least worked better for me than Mario 35, which I went ahead and deleted since that just felt like playing world 1 levels a thousand times. At least the basic Tetris gameplay is still intact in Tetris 99, though its visual and audio cacophony just isn't the sort of experience I'm looking for in a falling blocks puzzle game.

But seriously, it's a fun little pick up and play. Being able to customise your buttons is a godsend because I don't know what was going on with the defaults. I find myself not concentrating too much on whose attacking me or who I'm attacking. I just quietly focus on my game.
14th is my best finish last night after about 5 rounds. It's interesting how your finish place can depend wildly on how well you survive any initial onslaughts. I found i'd be getting attacked early, but if I can manage it, then things settle down and i'll get a good finish.
Good stuff. I shall play more.

Ya know, I never realized until today, the potential for shenanigans that the Switch's detachable controllers offer. Played this with my brother, with one of us holding L and the other holding the R controller. No strats, just good ol mindreading. ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ
It was super goofy fun, the longest we lasted was #54 LOL

Unlocked the Pokemon theme by unlocking 100 points which wasn't too hard. Getting piled on in the beginning happens to me way too often and can often be difficult to get out of. Fun game.

Battleroyal tetris is way more fun and addicting that I thought. I love it! I didn't even have nintendo online, but I did get the free trial for tetris 99. I will not continue my subscription though because paying a subscription fee to play Tetris seems a bit ridiculous to me.

I was hoping for normal Tetris or at least the option for it. I don't play well with others lol. I DID keep getting owned; I won't deny.
