Frog Fractions is a 2012 browser game developed by Twinbeard Studios, a company composed primarily of founder Jim Crawford. The game, released on October 25, 2012, has been described as a spoof of the edutainment game genre. In the game, the player begins by controlling a frog to eat bugs and defend fruit. Later on, the player may spend points on upgrades to improve their frog's abilities. The game does not actually teach the player about fractions; the player's score is given in fractions, but no knowledge of them is necessary to play. Read less

It's an experience for sure. One of those games where it becomes less of a game and more of an... adventure in someone's head.

As a fan of fractions...

As a fan of fractions i highly recommend this incredible deep dive into what it truly means to "divide" be it numbers, currency, social economics, the legal system.

Division will affect us all, we are the Frog Fractions.

Also it's free so hop right into this fun world of fractions my friend :)

Hoppin' Good Time

Short, silly, and sweet. It doesn't overstays it's welcome and moves along at a good pace -I mean, really helpful game to practice your fractions!

A pioneer of the meta-gaming/"not what it looks like"/"don't read anything about it and just play it" genre. That said, I can't help but feel a bit disappointed about this one, the gameplay loop is boring and the comedy bits don't always land. Special shoutout to the lock-on vs manual bit that went on way longer than it needed to.

This is more of an experience than a game. It was an interesting way to spend half an hour of my time, and I don't regret it!

Greater minds than mine might be able to review Frog Fractions without killing the magic, but I don't think I'm up to the task. That being said, I will say that:
A) It's a neat dissection of game design that takes about 30 minutes and 0 dollars to play. If you like weirdness, give it a go: http://twinbeard.com/frog-fractions

B) While I like the general idea Frog Fractions builds itself out of, I'm not so happy with the execution. The concept was fantastic and the sense of humor decent enough, but the mediocre gameplay which fastened it all together really held back my enjoyment here. I'm looking forward to further efforts by Twinbeards all the same.
