jay.dino's review of Iridion 3D

Platform:

Gameboy Advance

Description:

An impressive demonstration of technical capabilities, this 3D railshooter takes the gba to the limits without any slowdowns.

Liked:

The presentation is, and I don't know how to put it differently, impressive. The backgrounds often feel like full 3D even though it's looped movie clips or something like that. I liked that every level had a different theme too.

Disliked:

The gameplay falls a bit flat, it's evident that much development time was spent polishing visual aspects, and less time for the actual gameplay. The gameplay as a result is a bit rough, some things like the weapon powerups don't really feel different from each other, and I really felt little motivation to try and kill the enemies, instead it was easier to dodge them.

Summary:

It's a bit of a Space Harrier style game, and if you liked that, you should enjoy this too. But Iridion 3D has much less to offer in terms of variety. It's recommended for a single playthrough just to see how awesome it looks.
