It's Age of Empires with better graphics.
This review is for the PC (Microsoft Windows) version

It's Age of Empires with better graphics. I just don't have the time to play every genre out there. RTS games are what I cut. Too bad too because they are lots of fun.

Word of advice for anyone wanting to start this game on the Extended Edition, play the Quick Match tutorial last, even though its designated as the first tutorial. It gives you the entire tech tree upfront which can get really overwhelming when you're now starting out. The subsequent tutorials all do a better job of teaching the game to beginners.

RTS has piqued my interest.

Matching difficulty with ability has always been the crux to enjoy myself in the genre. Too easy and it all feels anti-climactic. Too hard and the mind overheats with frustration or cerebral haze.

The idea of multiplayer supercharges me with anticipation. However the sheer inability to compete ruptures me into a concussed reality. I don't find it fun to engage in gameplay where mandatory speed run is a life or death requirement.

Each RTS title offers a special feature with a loss of something else I'd enjoy. Rise of Nations isn't the perfect combination either but I appreciate it. Perhaps its all I need for the moment.
