Control is a third-person action-adventure game set in the Federal Bureau of Control, a secretive U.S. government agency that studies paranormal phenomena. Players control Jesse Faden, who arrives at the Bureau's headquarters, the Oldest House, to find it invaded by a hostile force called the Hiss. Gameplay combines supernatural abilities with a shape-shifting firearm, and the environment is reactive and destructible.

The AWE DLC is particularly great thanks to the fact that I just played Alan Wake. It also makes me really excited for the Lakehouse DLC in Alan Wake II.

I’m an idiot and I now realize that I got the Formation and the Foundation mixed up. I’m now playing The Foundation and actually quite enjoying it.

I’m glad I’m replaying Control because I didn’t previously play the AWE DLC, and it’s perfect given I just finished Alan Wake.

Just completed the Put a Record On mission, and I still don’t understand the point of the Foundation DLC. My reward for a gruelling twenty minute mad dash to complete tasks and fend off hordes of enemies was a measly two mods and another jukebox token. Obviously better rewards come from higher tier trips to the Foundation, but crafting tokens …

Just completed the Put a Record On mission, and I still don’t understand the point of the Foundation DLC. My reward for a gruelling twenty minute mad dash to complete tasks and fend off hordes of enemies was a measly two mods and another jukebox token. Obviously better rewards come from higher tier trips to the Foundation, but crafting tokens cost a ton of source, and rewards are random so it hardly feels the rewards are worth both the grind and effort. Am I missing something? Is there something that eventually makes it worthwhile?

I forgot how tedious the combat gets during the back half of this game as they start throwing more and more armoured troops at you. I really wish games could find more inventive ways to increase the challenge without just turning enemies into bullet sponges.

I love that everyone in the FBC simply accept that Jesse is the new director because she picked up a single OoP. It's perfect.

Completed the ultimate edition with all the dlc but not 100% due to all the tedious side missions it has.

As of July 2024 this is by far the worst game I’ve played that year.

I forgot how pretty this game is. And it's even prettier with RTX on. The last time I tested RTX out was when Control Ultimate Edition hit PS5 with new features. But on PS5 using RTX locks you to 30fps, and at that time I decided performance mode was the way to go. Well, now that I can play it …

I forgot how pretty this game is. And it's even prettier with RTX on. The last time I tested RTX out was when Control Ultimate Edition hit PS5 with new features. But on PS5 using RTX locks you to 30fps, and at that time I decided performance mode was the way to go. Well, now that I can play it with both RTX on and 60 fps+, it's even better. I'm looking forward to my replay once I have Alan Wake and Quantum Break under my belt.

This was fun. The main story is kind of mediocre but the world building made up for it. It was amusing reading and watching all the collectibles about the Bureau and Altered Items, etc. Combat can be tough, but is fair. It's probably a bit easier if you don't go full "the best defense is a good offense" on everything, …

It was amusing reading and watching all the collectibles about the Bureau and Altered Items, etc. Combat can be tough, but is fair. It's probably a bit easier if you don't go full "the best defense is a good offense" on everything, but that's just how I play.

Also played both DLCs. The one with all the Alan Wake stuff was pretty bad. Alan is pretentious and this DLC has solidified the fact I will not be replaying the first game or buying the second one. The Foundation DLC on the other hand felt like a solid epilogue and built the world even further.
