Control is a third-person action-adventure game set in the Federal Bureau of Control, a secretive U.S. government agency that studies paranormal phenomena. Players control Jesse Faden, who arrives at the Bureau's headquarters, the Oldest House, to find it invaded by a hostile force called the Hiss. Gameplay combines supernatural abilities with a shape-shifting firearm, and the environment is reactive and destructible.

An entertaining and confusing game

Control's very unique story, environments, battle system and atmosphere build an incredible game. This is a game that I can easily recommend to any action game fan. Even if you don't pay attention to it's ominous weird story and characters, you'll still get the most out of its gameplay and presentation. AND MY GOD, THE ART DIRECTION HERE IS JAW DROPPING! Control's only mistakes are found in its unforgiving checkpoints, poor performance issues, lack of variety towards the ending and the shallow story conclusion. Nothing game breaking, but I felt like its faults kept it from being epic or even more memorable than it is

Everything is perfect in this game, except Checkpoints and Loading screen! And I also forgot about performance issues after pause menu or mission menu... In fact although the problems were bothering me, the story and gameplay was good enough to suggest the game to everyone. Great mind blowing game!

This game deserves more appreciation.

I loved the lore, characters, the world created, build-up.

Combat sometimes becomes repetitive but very enjoyable.

Graphics are awesome. Even without RTX. Colors represents the game very nicely.

Level-up system is basic but nice. Rewarding exploration.

Connection with Alan Wake and Quantum break Easter Eggs. Nice.

Remedy took their lessons from Quantum Breaak and they improved themselves. Respect.

This is the most fun i have ever had in the last and this years gaming experience so far.

Brilliant.

Edit: Played both DLCs recently. Both are great. Would like to see more of this universe.

I've now put two evenings into Control and—as suspected—I love the world-building and am quite concerned about the difficulty. After spending so much time playing Celeste, Baba is You, and Fortnite's Team Rumble last year—where I could fail/die and quickly try again—dealing with Control's checkpoint system is brutal. I imagine I'll get better at combat, but some of the enemies take me down before I've had a chance to take cover. I've had success playing very conservatively, but I feel like I'm moving slower than the game wants me to. By having health drop where enemies fall, it feels like I should mobile like in Doom (2016), but I'd need a Praetor Suit to deal with all the incoming damage.

I was delighted when listening to everyone's experience of the game and am so far enjoying it myself, but I would definitely be save scumming if the game allowed it.

Very much love the atmosphere, characters, and powers. I enjoy reading about all the strange encounters with objects of power and altered world events that the Bureau has to deal with. It is incredibly satisfying to fling objects at enemies knocking them over, or fling enemies themselves into each other.

Combat is okay but not great. It oscillates between too easy and feeling unfair/cheap (enemies that spawn on top of me or inability to figure out what is hurting my character).

Really despise the navigation through the building. I am constantly getting lost and not in the fun “let’s see what’s around this corner“ way. I am bumbling through trying to find some door or passage that is tucked away and will lead to my Ultimate destination.

Control doesn’t make a great first impression. The narrative starts off deliberately confusing and drops you in with almost no set up. The combat initially feels stiff, difficult, and overly simplistic. The layout of the Oldest House is confusing and hard to navigate. I ended up loving the game by the end. They manage to tell a cool story in a cool way and they justify starting you off in the dark. The combat quickly adds important abilities to your toolkit that allow you to get around easily and deal with enemies in creative and satisfying ways. It’s fantastic by the end, feeling a playable version of the battles I dreamed about while reading X-Men comics as a kid. The highest praise I can offer is that the game felt short, despite it being a meaty 12-hour campaign and longer than most games I played this year, and I didn’t want it to end. I hope it did well for Remedy because I’d really like to see more games in the setting.

The art direction and graphics are outstanding, incredibly impressed. The esthetic is sophisticated and reminds me of Kubrick. If you didn't play Control and are planning to do it, this video is pretty spoilerific, so don't watch it. But can we talk about how awesome this section of the game is?

I lie. Control has kept me sane too. People complain they didn't know how to end it. I'm actually pleasantly surprised. A certain FMV scene (I have on repeat now) and they way it lifts up its protagonist are so incredibly heartening.

I need more positive games!

Oh, man, this game is both very odd and very conventional. Lots of 4th wall breaking, interesting choices, unsettling mysteries. But then there's also sidequests, inventory management, up-leveling.

Is this the oddest mainstream release ever?

I suppose the Bioshock and Katamari games exist, but this is gloriously odd!

To both praise and criticise it, I think this is probably as far as you can push a close-to-ordinary combat system (almost to breaking point) by containing it in such a not-grounded setting. You can smell the potential for something …
