I think I found the "White Palace" of Silksong:
My thumbs hurt.

I love how this game has tried to break my resolve on so many things and I persevered but I'm like "keep this flea in the air 47 times?" The hell with this

This whole thing can fuck right off.

Fucking challenge rooms. I'm up to my tits in challenge rooms and the challenge-room level keeps rising. That Halls Gauntlet just soured me to the game. I was expected to finally get a cool bossfight, after all that time, all that platforming (which was really good, btw) and the game goes:

No, Silksong, I didn't like this reheated garbage that wasn't even that good the first time around.
Its only redeeming quality is that the two Clappers can be fun to pogo over.
I didn't even have such a hard time with it. Luckily I beat it in about 4 tries. My heart hurts for the people that spent hours and countless attempts in this shit. I would've uninstalled the game and burned down my drive just in case if I were them.
There's a feeling of padding in the late game. As if they ran out of ideas with the Clockwork Dancers but they had to justify the 7 years of waiting with a 60hr game so they keep going by copy-pasting encounters.

I'm getting fed up with the endless "challenge rooms" comprised of wave after wave of random normal enemies. It's boring. It's not interesting. It's just padding.

Damn, the Cogwork Dancer were so incredibly cool. Not the funnest or most challenging boss so far, but the most beautiful. And the one that made me feel kinda bad.

Got caught by an enemy and sent to horny jail. After getting out, I prison had changed me and made me hate the judicial system, so I went and kicked the Last Judge's ass. Fun fight; wished the runback weren't so annoying.

It's neat how the Choral Chamber enemies are kind of the same as the possessed pilgrims near Bone Bottom. It suggest that that's what they become when the finally end their pilgrimage (although that idea doesn't fit with the Last Judge blocking the entrance) and must've also freed a lot of time for the devs that didn't need to program new AI.

Ok, Silksong, I wished it didn't take 5 bosses to get to the good stuff, but I'm glad we're finally here.
Phantom fight was so fun! It was not too hard, but very entertaining. Extremely well telegraphed attacks with lots of time to heal. But the soundtrack and setting and our lovely dance/fight was really satisfying.

That Widow fight was so good. Best one so far, I wager. I loved how the second phase looked almost impossible to parse with all that was going on but eventually everything clicked, and I almost zoned out, avoiding attacks and dealing damage in the proper openings.

The tanky flying enemies are really testing my patience. Flying enemies are annoying in the best of times, but when you're also platforming and trying not to fall into the poison lake and the last checkpoint is really far away, and they take more than 6 or 7 hits... they are beyond infuriating.

Ok, finally I got to the first boss I would call "interesting". This Moorwing fucker had some basic attacks on its first phase, but then it started throwing shurikens that moved around in weird patterns. Learning where to move to be safe was fun.
Too bad the runback was rather long and boring.

This game is an absolutely amazing follow-up to the original Hollow Knight. Great lore, great gameplay and mostly great bosses. This game is an absolutely amazing follow-up to the original Hollow Knight. Great lore, great gameplay and mostly great bosses. That said, I gave the original HK 5 stars without hesitation and have only given Silksong 4 stars. The reason for that is that the first two acts are absolutely 5 stars, fantastic, but Act 3 (while it has some great moments) I would only give 3 stars.
My issue with Act 3 is that the difficulty often stops feeling fair. I really enjoy difficult games, I like to be challenged, but one of my pet peeves is difficulty that is "artificial". What I mean is things that feel designed to cause you to fail rather than being a learning/skill issue. Loosing to random bad luck at a high rate, or because boss design feels unbalanced really takes away from how good the first two acts felt. That said, I felt the Act 3 boss was the exact opposite of this. It was very difficult, but learnable. Most of the times I died against this boss, I knew why and it was usually my fault. However, there were beautiful spans where it all clicked and they didn't touch me for an entire phase.
Anyway, some Act 3 BS aside, absolutely stellar game. I'm sad Act 3 brings down what would have been another 5/5 from Team Cherry, but I would still recommend Silksong wholeheartedly to any fans of Hollow Knight.
