Preliminary: Even tho it wasn't that long ago I already have nostalgia for the time my husband and I played through this on the arcade machine. I described it as innocuous but fun then, so I foresee this being just a 3 star fun 1990 arcade game. But hopefully with that nostalgia and these cute dialog boxes and great music, this may be higher.
That first boss? or mini-boss or whatever in the bar was a bit tacky. Let me shoot up and down if gonna be in this perspective. But hey it's better than brawlers from this era cuz it has more of a shooter element. Still, run n guns usually don't do much for me so again this may just be a 3 star via the fact I have access to the arcade machine and a fond memory playing it (and a good Look and Sound).
Round one done, beat the uh werewolf? As usual not a fan of depth factors in brawler games, especially since you can't face "up/down". But it's fine. Everything's been intuitive so far, so can't complain, and there are power-ups so yay. And tbh so far the between-round sequences are the highlight :-p …

Apparently there are 5 rounds, here goes nothing.
Day 1
The collision masks of Round 2 are pretty bad, and not a fan of this wall-climbing scenario. Definitely is best played with a friend and infinite coins :-p The logic that your character can't throw straight when jumping despite enemies that would make sense for that >.< Starting to burn out already we shall see..
I dunno maybe it was just cuz I played as the Red ninja kid? But it just felt blah. And when I saw I had yet another room with these annoying floating enemies with only annoying ways to take them down, I figured it was time to move on. Run n gun and brawlers are just not for me, but this gets a boost from fond memories and good Look/Sound :)
Look: 8/10 Good Look, quite standard for 1990 arcade, but that's a good thing. I love the between-round sequences and chat boxes.
Sound: 8.5/10 Definitely the highlight, can help drive you to keep playing on the actual arcade machine with a friend!
Play: 7/10 Pretty good run n gun/brawler, but never a genre I love.
Feel: 8/10 Good Sound and fond memories and cute Look in parts culminate into a nice Feel.
Attachment: 8/10 Since I have access to it on the arcade machine, and this is perfect for just casual play with infinite coins and 2 players (unlike for my backlog play), I foresee myself playing this again. As a backlog/solo game at home though, nothing great.
Overall: 7.9/10 (largely because of nostalgia/fond memory)
Completion: Got to here and said nope not again (but beat it with my husband before)
Playtime: Not sure that first time, but this time it was 15 mins before dropping it
I'll eventually play this more properly and in the context of the chronology project, but my husband and I spontaneously played through the whole game yesterday lol. Goofy but fun. A bit inocuous/redundant but it's nice having access to it on an arcade machine.
