As an obsessed Pokémon fan with more Pokémon tattoos than I'd like to admit... this is really scratching my monster hunter game itch. I'm only 2 hours in but I'm enjoying it a lot so far!

Yokai-Watch is a brilliant little game and all, and I love the idea of "Pokemon, but like, with actual monsters", but I must say I'm really underwhelmed at the actual battling aspect of the whole thing. At first I liked that it autofought and you didn't have to do too much in the way of interacting, but now I feel …

At first I liked that it autofought and you didn't have to do too much in the way of interacting, but now I feel like it's a huge misstep and the game is taking control of its gameplay away from the player. I wish it worked more like Pokemon in the battle aspect at least.

I may have prematurely gotten onto the Yo-kai Watch train. I'm 45 hours in, on the last chapter, and only now has my main adversary been revealed. I may have prematurely gotten onto the Yo-kai Watch train. I'm 45 hours in, on the last chapter, and only now has my main adversary been revealed. So far my play experience has consisted of primarily of doing sidequests, which can become pretty time consuming given the fact that the catch rates of some Yokai are so low. I just really expected to like this game a lot more, but the simplicity of the combat and the bloated amount of side content, which makes up the gist of the game, low yokai catch rates, and the almost non-existent core plot have made the last 15 or so hours quite a slog. I just had such high expectations. Yeah, I know it's a kids game. It's not without value, though. It's great to look at, the world/characters are full of personality, and the dialogue is pretty quirky/humorous. I'm really on the fence about this one.

More people should be playing this game. More people should be playing this game. It's such a fun monster catching adventure kind of like Pokemon, but improves and differentiates itself on the formula in enough ways that it stands on it's own and excels at what it sets out to be; a monster catching and battling game for the modern generation with modern gaming sensibilities. Any casual fan of rpgs like Pokemon or collecting(monster catching) games owes it to themselves to try this one. The writing is just so hilarious, witty, and self aware that it oozes a wisdom and sensibility that most JRPGS lack, not to mention this was created primarily for kids(on the surface) but it can be enjoyed by adults, which really says something about how much effort was put into fleshing out Keita/Nate and Cos world' for broad appeal. Don't let it pass you by. Not getting the later installments in the series would be a great tragedy!

I'm utterly shocked that no one has mentioned this game?! I will probably pick this up after I finish my complete Hyperdimension Neptunia run-through. That is, unless I give into the Fallout hype. That game looks AMAZING.
