Similar to 1+2, this is a near perfect remake. It updates everything from the originals while preserving the tone, gameplay and feel. I do think this is missing some of the soul in 1+2, and I have to assume a lot of that is the cuts from the soundtrack, as music's such an integral part of the THPS experience.

I do love this game. The levels look great, the soundtrack is enjoyable and the gameplay is as great as Tony Hawk has ever been.
However, I have to dock it a star for unreasonably tedious completionist requirements. After powering through all the traditionally difficult challenges in the game, I tried to tackle the ludicrous solo tour trophy and gave up out of boredom after playing three levels through 30 times. Very disappointing way to finish the game.

I've seen critiques saying this is essentially a map pack for THPS 1+2, but that's what I was expecting and that's what I got, so I'm happy with how the game turned out. I had only played THPS3 on PS1 and I never played THPS4, so I didn't have the expectation of a career mode going into this remaster. I think if you just want new maps to skate around in, this will be a good time, but I think the critiques I've seen online are also very valid. I am really hoping they decide to remake Underground 1+2 because Underground 1 is my favorite game in the series.
