The Masked Rider is a Japanese super hero, a man who has become genetically altered to be a man/grasshopper who rides a motorcycle. This FMV game adapts scenes from the movie Masked Rider ZO, and creates a Dragon's Lair style experience. The game centers around 10 battles of the film's 3 main characters. Correct timing hits the enemy harder, lowering their health bar. Failure reduces the players health. Less

Pleasant Surprise. Stood Out Among Early FMV/Interactive Movie Games
This review is for the Sega CD version

Preliminary: This is actually quite neat. This would';ve been so cool as a kid if I were into Kamen Rider. And it's a neat mix of Dragon's Lair style FMV gameplay and a sort of adventure game . Now, how often will I play an interactive FMV of a series I've never watched? Not often. But this impressed me. And I am a good chunk through it.

Some of these monsters are pretty cool. There were parts I laughed out loud (the norm for early interactive movies), parts I found the graphics really impressive and the movie quite gorey and brutal for what I expected, and parts I was tightly holding the controller. I admit I fast forwarded through some of the parts, but this was by far the most engaged I was with an FMV game. I found the world with the pillars really cool as well as the spider-esque enemy there. This may actually move up to a 4 star rather than 3 star!

It was hard to get screenshots but lots of cool settings and screens. And occasionally great tunes.

(Mind you, I had it on Easy difficulty. But I like just, well, enjoying a gamer :-p …

(Mind you, I had it on Easy difficulty. But I like just, well, enjoying a gamer :-p ) Yessss it even incorporated dusk colors for the ending, and had a great tune. This honestly may deserve a 5 star, but I don't think I can honestly give an FMV game that. But it's the best of the FMV games I've played so far. enter image description hereenter image description here

Look: 8.5/10

Sound: 8.5/10

Play: 8/10 Never a favorite genre for me, but this had fighting game elements, FMV game elements, and adventure game elements. Honestly this probly should be higher rated since this executed it the best by far for this genre so far. (I gave it the extra .5 out of recognition for its excellent execution of the genre, so I put it at an 8)

Feel: 8.5/10 If I had nostalgia for this series/character, it would've been over!

Attachment: 8/10 Most notable of this genre so far, and a fun little time. Can't believe I actually played through it all. Compared to Night Trap, this wasn't just good for a laugh; and compared to Dragon's Lair, this had a nice UI and gameplay elements.

Overall: 8.3/10

Completion: Main Story

Playtime: ~35 mins (I fast forwarded through some conversation parts)
