If you like The Boys you'll love this game

First of all, runs and looks amazing on the Steam Deck.

About the game itself, loved it 100%. Have some doubts about how much history would've changed if taken different decisions, maybe some day will have another go and find out.

Narrative is quite good, you will end up loving the characters, and the dispatch mechanic is quite addictive.

What an end?!

No spoilers:

The story is catchy. (I played without quick events because i wanted to focus on the story).

Overall it's a short game, in 2 afternoons i was finished with it. But it had great characters, all of them had interesing personalities and backstories. It's definetly worth playing it.

I'm not giving it 5 stars because:

I'm not giving it 5 stars because:

  • On a few ocasions i saw a missmatch between one scene and the next one. (Simple stuff like having blood in your shoulder and next one you don't. 1,2 or 3 times is okay, but it happened multiple times, it was weird)
  • Some situations were ridiculous, makes you think "Why would anyone do that?"
  • The last scene with the bad guy, just...no words Why the hell would you trade the energy nucleus which could destroy civilization for a DOG. Also, you have a SPEEDSTER in your team? like please

A Great but Generic Story, with Some Fun Gameplay Elements

Telltale was a staple in my gaming library growing up. I thoroughly enjoyed The Walking Dead games and Tales from the Borderlands. What we have here in Dispatch feels right at home amongst Telltale's classics. I thought Dispatch was great, albeit, maybe a little short if I'm being honest.

Let me start by saying that I binged this game in like 3 separate sittings. I played episodes 1-2 together, then episode 3, then episodes 4-8 in a single sitting. I wish I hadn't done this, more so, I wish I played this game as episodes were released weekly. I envy players who got to enjoy more time with this game and had future episodes to look forward to. I think part of the reason the game felt so short to me was due to my binge.

The narrative, characters, and decision making are all great here. A strong lead voice-actor in the always fantastic Aaron Paul (YEAH BITCH!!), and a decently supported cast. I really like the art style they chose for this game, it's what initially hooked me along with the decision based story-telling. Music was never annoying, though nothing really hooked me either.

The story itself is somewhat generic? It's been done before I feel. The "reformed found family villains forced to work together" trope drives the narrative. These characters are well fleshed out and entertaining enough for it to work though. The characters, their designs, and personalities are all well established. The game also heavily persuades the player into a romantic relationship with either Blonde Blazer or Invisigal. I ultimately chose to keep things neutral and simply befriended both. I felt like this was an appropriate conclusion for Robert in this game, and if ever a sequel, perhaps my Robert will be more inclined to start dating. Either way, I got the rarest ending in not ending up in a romantic relationship which I guess was cool. My Robert got the "True Hero" role, which seemed fitting for the choices I made. Ultimately, choices don't change the ending, which is somewhat typical in the Telltale series I suppose. Minor changes here and there, but nothing that drastically changes the ending. I chose to spare Shroud, so we'll see if that has any impact on a potential sequel (though I doubt it).

Something that I was a surprisingly big fan of was the gameplay in your shifts. It was fun sending out the best heroes for the job, leveling them up, and building my team more. I definitely see potential here for a deeper dive into this for a sequel. I really enjoyed this gameplay aspect of the game. It required relatively thoughtful strategy going in, and as I progressed I learned what heroes were best for each job. It was fun management. For those curious, my most used hero was Prism and my strongest hero was Flambae.

Overall Dispatch was a fun story to be apart of. I regret not jumping in sooner for those weekly releases, but even without I still enjoyed this game. I give Dispatch 3.5/5 stars. A relatively generic story, but done well. I was engaged throughout, and the thought of a potential sequel is awesome. Would love to see more of the Dispatch world from this team. A good game to add to the completed list starting 2026.

Bah

Un cast stellare e interpretazioni convincenti, una scrittura discreta e qualche minigioco non bastano a salvare il gioco: resta inferiore ai titoli dello stesso genere, camuffato da una finta libertà di scelta e da QTE inutili.

Re-reading my initial Dispatch review made me realize I was simply too tired when I wrote it. The game is actually good, and it deserves a fair take - so "ah... here we go again".

A comedy, superhero interactive movie is a weird mix - and surprisingly, it works. I don't play many games in this genre, but for me it feels like really tasty junk food: great fun, just not something I'd want all the time. That's not a criticism - it's an analogy. Dispatch is genuinely enjoyable. I ended up playing it for two days straight because it kept pulling me back in.

Gameplay-wise, Dispatch strongly reminded me of This Is the Police, a game I really enjoyed. Each mission gives you hints about what's going to happen, and you have to decide which heroes are best suited for the job. It's simple, but that's part of the charm: relaxing, addictive, and easy to get into. My main complaint is the lack of content - there just aren't enough shifts to play with. An “infinite shift” mode would've kept me hooked for many more hours.

Dispatch Dispatch shift

This is a police 2 This is a police 2 shift

While the game lets you disable QTEs, I chose to keep them on - and I'm glad I did. They genuinely add tension. I felt more involved and reacted instinctively to save my teammates. That said, the story itself is very straightforward. You can predict most of the twists long before they happen, and I never really formed a strong connection with the characters. Even in supposedly emotional moments, I felt detached - more “okay, let's move on” than actually invested.

Overall, Dispatch isn't a long game - about 10 hours for the full story - and that's exactly the right length. It doesn't overstay its welcome, and there's enough action to keep things engaging the whole way through.

Definitely recommended. Not deep, not groundbreaking - just a solid, fun experience that knows what it is and doesn't pretend to be more.

Not really a game

Let's be honest. There isn't much gaming involved. And when it is, the mechanics are boring and monotonous. The story is ok, but I'd rather watch it as a series and spare myself the tedious mouse clicks.

Wasn't Even On My Radar, But It Found Me Anyway

Well, safe to say I loved this one. I am a HUGE fan of Telltale and Telltale-like games, so this was exactly what I needed right now given the drought we've been going through with these types of games.

If you're not a fan of that style, where it's basically just an interactive movie, you won't like this at all. At least with most Telltale games there's puzzle solving/roaming sections. That doesn't exist here. You have dialogue choices, the "dispatch" game itself, and then a handful of action sequences that boil down to QTEs.

But if you're someone, like me, who yearns for this sort of thing, then you're likely going to love it.

As the title suggests, I didn't even know this game existed. Then I started seeing some people celebrating the one million copies sold milestone, talking about cliffhangers and not being able to wait for the next episode, and how positive the reviews were on Steam. Someone I know picked it up and said it was basically Invincible meets Telltale, to which I responded with "say less".

Right out of the gate I was in love and that never wavered for a single moment. None of the episodes felt like fluff or filler to me and most importantly it felt like my choices MATTERED.

Again, I adore Telltale games so this isn't a jab at them, but a lot of their stories come to the same conclusion regardless of your choices. Sure, sometimes there are different characters or paths there, but at most you're gonna get a binary choice. From what I've been told, Dispatch has at least six endings and I LOVED the one I got. It felt earned, rewarding and emotionally satisfying.

I also have to say that I adored pretty much every character in here. What impressed me most though were the ones I expected to hate. When I saw the voice cast included Jacksepticeye, Alannah Pearce and Yung Gravy, I thought "wtf am I getting myself into?". And boy, I was gleefully proven wrong. Not only are they wonderful additions to the ensemble, but they hold their own against heavyweights like Aaron Paul, Jeffrey Wright and Laura Bailey.

The humour worked for me, very raunch and tongue-in-cheek, the emotional beats landed, the choices felt impactful/consequential, the world is marvellous, the action sequences were exciting and it was remarkably well paced across its eight episodes.

The actual dispatching of "Dispatch" was insanely fun and addictive too. I wasn't sure about it at first, when you do your first little test run I thought that it came off like a cheap mobile game. And while it isn't this carefully crafted, deep and complex system, there's enough to keep you on your toes and thinking. Strategizing and levelling up your characters while getting to hear them interact with each other and you is a real treat.

So yeah, that basically sums up my thoughts. You're gonna know if this is your kind of game before you ever click that purchase button. If you think it's going to be up your alley, then you're in for a real treat.

Already excited to try and unlock other endings for myself and you better believe my body is ready for a second season or whatever the combo of AdHoc and Critical Role put out next!

Scratched the itch just right for me

I. Love. This.

I haven't played a ton of interactive story games, but this is probably tied with The Wolf Among Us for my favorite.

REALLY hope we get a sequel for this one, there's a ton of potential for more here.
