i feel like this game is gonna be too short for everything it could tell and be, and i also agree with the people saying that it feels like stuff was cut off and/or rushed (which considering the situation it was "born" in its quite likely). but i also feel like adhoc has shown the …

anyway- does sonar have to buy his own suits after ripping them when he transforms or does the sdn provide them or-

The games industry can invest in genAI tech all they want there's simply never going to be a replacement for human stories, creativity, and performances and I'm so glad this game came out at this particular time to REALLY drive that point home

Article: Suiting (Back) Up - The developers at AdHoc Studio talk about rising from the ruins of Telltale to create their debut superhero game, Dispatch by Charles Harte
In general, the team is not shy about the ways they want to change their process compared to some older Telltale projects. They don’t reveal how many endings Dispatch has, but they have strong opinions when I ask about whether a narrative game needs to have multiple endings to begin with. “I think internally, we all believe pretty strongly that having 50 endings to something means that there’s probably 48 bad endings and maybe two good endings,” Lenart says. Player agency is important to them, but not at the expense of satisfying storytelling.
“It’s really hard to write one good ending to anything, right?” Herman says. “For it to all come together, and for it to be satisfying and make sense, and feel motivated to close all these threads at the very end – that’s hard to just have to do that 20 more times.” He finishes by saying, “We’re focused on the quality of the experience.”
“It’s our first shot to make our own original IP, which is something that we’ve wanted to do for what, 20 years now?” Lenart says. “And while working at Telltale in the past, we worked on a lot of licensed IPs, which is fun, and we found our own sort of angles to make them interesting to us. But [...] this game specifically is kind of a lifelong dream of being able to ship something [when] we basically just get to say, ‘This is what it is, and if you hate it, it’s our fault.’”

I played the first 2 chapters! The game will release episodically overtime.

The main character, and all the dysfunctional superheroes are genuinely charming, and who doesn't love a good dysfunctional antihero redemption story with actually not cringe, actually good characters and writing.
The gameplay itself is very fun also. Parts are QuickTime events during story beats (but you can disable them with no penalty to just watch the story) and general dialogue choices.
But there is an actual simulation mechanic of the actual dispatch, where you send your members to the various crimes/issues in the city based on their skillsets, and level up their skillsets. This is suprisingly very fun. There'sa little hacking mechanic too which is simple but fun also.
I really like this, if the rest of the episodes maintain the same quality it will be an awesome game. Either way, I really look forward to continuing the story of it when the next episodes come out.

Tried the demo for this one. Definitely has promise, the world and characters seem fun, the gameplay is fast paced, but a bit of a spreadsheet manager, the writing seems like it could teeter between humorous & annoying.
I was really impressed with the animations, looks like there's lots of cutscenes. And the voice cast is a real who's who.
