AILA, the second first person horror puzzle game from the developers of Fobia takes a slightly more survival horror angle. It’s got a cool concept, as you play a beta tester for a new AI software and things go horribly wrong. So you bounce back and forth between your sci-fi apartment and different horror settings - a ghost ship, the forest, a warehouse, etc.
There were definitely some highlights, the whole meta aspect and mystery of things was pretty mindbending. The levels are very much a mixed bag, as is the combat. Many have some cool puzzles while others are repetitive and more combat focused.
I liked it a little more than the last game due to the theme and more survival horror elements, but the ending was a pretty huge let down and there were just too many meandering sections for me to fully recommend it.
It’s about a 2.4/5 for me.
