When an unforeseen crisis befalls the nation, it is decreed that the first explorer to retrieve the Grail of Kings from that mythical floating palace will be rewarded with wealth and fame beyond imagining. Strangely addictive and, let's be real, mental.

Yesterday having been a tiring day, there was little to no joy to be found scouring maps while having my digital head kicked in. When did my DS lite screen become so small?

In Etrian, ownership, decisive choices and synergies promise much but the grind and motes of tedium cough throughout this theatre of play. I can see it all ahead with zero will to trounce around, fretting upon this stage.

Its a game perfect for a time past, colliding with the exhaustion of parenthood and employment.

The telltale heart of Etrian Odyssey 2, started beating from within my gaming treasure trove, deep inside my closet. I'm charging my faithful DS and plan to return to the wincing ambition I happily abandoned, god knows when.

Perhaps the next adventure will be more successful? Perhaps I'll shove the cartridge deeper into the box, past the half broken snes controller and obsolete cell phones. Just to be sure it doesn't rise again, bearing gifts of false hope in tactical chibi form.

Also - I never knew of the number of sequels. Wow.
