I really don't enjoy this game, which was disappointing since on paper I should like a combination of Tetris and music-based gameplay. After all, Tetris Effect is one of my all-time favorites and I'm a lifelong fan of rhythm games.
Where Effect made playing Tetris almost feel like you were conducting music, this game uses music and rhythm to guide how you play Tetris. For me the genre mashup was awkward both as a Tetris game and as a rhythm/music game.
One mode gives you two possible places to put each block, and you are simply tapping on one of the options to the beat. The best player could think very quickly and manage their stack while keeping up with the rhythm—it's pretty tough to do while keeping up with the music. The other mode lets you move and rotate pieces freely, but you can only do "hard drops" to place one—so no slowly descending and tucking one piece under a hanging edge of another, for example.
I found it pretty unsatisfying, awkward, and borderline annoying to have to play under these constraints. If the rhythmic aspect of the game was fun, I'd be more willing to engage with this …

I just get no enjoyment out of my actions being set to the beat here. It's not like there are interesting patterns to learn for each song, it's just the game suggesting to sync your actions to the beat for high scores. It's a rhythm game in the way that Crypt of the Necrodancer is a rhythm game, that being... doing something to the rhythm of a song for an optimal outcome. I don't like that kind of game, but I suppose I could see how someone would.
You can also play normal marathon-style Tetris here, but like... why would I want to play normal Tetris on a touchscreen to this mediocre music? I've always found touchscreen controls for Tetris to feel bad compared to a controller or keyboard. And I can't say that any of the music I heard while playing was particularly memorable or exciting. At worst I actively disliked some of it.
Overall this is a game that I don't think is actively the worst thing ever, but one that doesn't have any appeal for me personally.
