Contra + Heavy Metal + Gore = Valfaris

I enjoyed this game in the beginning up until I didn't.

I think that the platforming wasn't challenging and I appreciate that the checkpoints were plentiful.

The graphics were (by design) pixely and I'm getting a little worn out on the aesthetic. The bosses were difficult, but once you learned them, provided little in the way of challenge.

It was a solid game overall, not bad, but not awesome.

hmm.. don't like this. looks cool. sounds cool. neat weapons... (seems to be) but i dont like the way this plays after about 30 minutes into it... feels clunky. lacks control. Having a terrible time connecting shots, dodging etc. Melee option is really cool, as are swappable secondary weapons.. but... there is a definite lack of precision, here. Or, maybe I just suck and am getting old and don't like these kinds of games anymore.

Some of the visuals and the music are really nice. However, the level of difficulty has some pacing issues which caused me to feel frustrated from not picking just 1 weapon and specializing in it. Ultimately it became more of a hassle than a challenge and I gave up 3/4 of the way through.

I would recommend this more for people looking to pad out their library or who are looking for something to kill a bit of time while waiting for a better game to release.

Finished after 6:30 hours. Another great indie with tons of action.

I expected it to be harder, but it has its Metal Mode anyway, so it's okay. Great gameplay, fun bosses, an interesting setting, an incredible pixel art... Absolutely recommended.

'Almost' a masterpiece.

Game itself is hard. Really hard. Especially the final boss. Literally, if you think Hollow knights' 'real' final boss is hard, give this guy a chance.

Soundtracks, sound effects are awesome. Heavy metal lovers like myself will definetely enjoy them.

Gothic, dark, gruesome world, challenging gameplay, weapons, enemies all are great. All fits into the metroidvania style, perfectly.

Boss designs are so damn cool. There are like 20 bosses, each feels different and requires variety of tactics to beat em'.

But there are some bosses that are for sure unnecessary, 'Just put there to fill the place' type. f.e: Kyvok... Why?

Resurrection idol capacitity increases after defeating bosses. Why? You don't even need more than 6-7. Maybe they could've given us a chance to increase Health or Energy. I dunno.

Whatever. Game is great. I loved it.
