The original version of Tobe's Vertical Adventure released as an Xbox Live Indie Game in 2010. The game was delisted in 2011 after the release of the PC port, which added a second character with a different moveset and storyline.
Tobe's Vertical Adventure is a classic 2D platformer, where players join Tobe on his quest for the treasure of King Garuza. Let's artificially lengthen the game by making the player traverse the whole level twice!
TVA has decent level design and the mechanics are sound but that's about all it has going for it. Jumping always feels a bit off. Having to climb back to the top with a time limit is really annoying. Playing with a controller feels wrong. I dislike the "building blocks" visual style. Levels are quite short, i think they take about 3-4 minutes to complete. The music is the worst part, it's a short loop that gave me a headache.
