Janky but original Metroidvania adjacent game

Drilly Willis is a psychedelic rock music themed Metroidvania that feels… like someone’s first game. It has a lot of heart, and I commend its creativity and originality. But it feels like a first draft that needs a lot of polish.

My biggest complaint is how it feels to play. The animations are just really stiff and it doesn’t feel good to play. A lot of the platformer and fights feel very buggy and I hit many bugs on my full play though.

I don’t mean to discourage, I absolutely think the dev should make another game! But I really recommend playtesting and above all - compare it to other games! Side by side with Ori or hollow knight - what am I missing? And then really take the time to learn it

Also, the character upgrades are not useful. Nothing actually changed how you play, there’s no dash or double jump, they’re basically ALL just keys. This makes it not really a true Metroidvania…

But ya, the art style is great and refreshing. It’s light hearted and a nice change of pace. But I can’t really recommend it, because it just feels like a rough draft of a game …
