I know gotta move forward from the PS2 era games, man, I know I have to let it go, but it is just simply the best era holy shit, the best console ever no notes.
Ok, I remember the first time I fired up this baby. I was super skeptical because I am not that much into simulators, so I got this on a lazy saturday afternoon and said "Meh, let's put some Arrested Development and past the time with this".
BROOOM BROOOM FIGHTER JETS GO PEW PEW YEEEESSS.
Great game, great story. I was super involved by the third mission, and getting the hang of the planes and the different types of ammo is so cool. The only minor blemish is that does not offer that much replaybility once the story missions are over, but ufff is such a cool game. I can wait to try the most recent one.
Now, thanks to this, I got to try one of my favorite games ever.
Great game that has the best plot of the ace combat franchise. The only issue I have with the series is it's anti Belkan bias.
This is just about my favorite game. It embodies the highest achievement of the medium in terms of storytelling, gameplay, and music. The Unsung War follows a squadron full of camaraderie.
Here's the third game in the Ace Combat series. In this edition, we have a conflict between two nations set in a Cold War-like scenario, with one nation representing the United States and Western Europe, while the other represents the former USSR.
In this PlayStation 2 era, being already the second game for the console, it boasts the best gameplay, graphics, and more. Unlike the previous game, this one is cinematic, featuring a story with rich CGI and a more elaborate plot compared to others in the series.
I didn't find anything particularly difficult about the gameplay; it's generally quite fun. However, I would say that hitting aerial targets with the machine gun can be tricky (I don't know how it works in real life, but the lack of assistance or targeting makes aerial pursuit slow, especially when missiles run out).
Having a resupply option would be nice since there are often large numbers of targets, and the jet can run out of resources (as many targets require 2 missiles to be destroyed, others require 3 missiles).
But I suppose that might make the gameplay too easy, hehe. I'm a casual player and didn't face many issues, so making it …

The mission style generally follows the same pattern in the series. This game is no different, with the final missions typically involving tunnels where you need to fly through and destroy a core or something similar.
This one feels a little annoying. Gameplay is still great but the missions can be pretty drawn out, particularly when stuck in unskippable dialogue sequences on a second or third attempt. Maybe it’s just me but I’ve also found that I tend to die or fail much later in these missions than I did in the other games, so in other words there’s even more to sit through again. There’s also a much higher than usual chance of running out of missiles, and no opportunities to refill. While I like what they did to make you actually feel like you’re running a team in this game, and the framing of the story, the characters and story themselves are not that appealing compared to 4 or 0. Playing a bunch of these games in a row has been fun, but it definitely makes the downsides of individual entries stick out more. While it’s nice to identify what works and doesn’t work across the different entries, I think this is where I start getting tired of it for now.
this game licensed fucking Puddle Of Mudd and then had this dude whose VA is literally straight out of a cheesy 80s anime dub have the audacity to say this while
ace combat 4's somber-yet-wistful plot examining two pilots, one an all-consuming entity beyond mere humanity that uses the medium of a fighter jet to deliver God's wrath, and the other a man who simply wishes to fight gloriously and protect his friends makes ace combat 5's pure fucking cheese even more incredible; i should have seen this coming the second i heard steve blum
