Dinner Date is a short, experimental first-person computer game made by Dutch game designer Jeroen D. Stout. It was first released digitally through Stout Games own website. Four months later (March 1, 2011) it was released on Steam. Just like some other indie games (e.g. Dear Esther or The Graveyard) its status as a video game has been disputed, as it requires minimal interaction and the few small choices you make are of no consequence to the story. FredLobster's review of Dinner Date

It's difficult to really describe Dinner Date without ruining a decent chunk of what makes it worthwhile, but I can safely say it is by far the hipsterest video game the world has ever seen. If you should choose to give it a try, expect an extremely brief (20 minutes or so per my Steam clock), vaguely interactive story-telling exercise, akin to Dear Esther but radically different in scale and style. Also, watch a few dozen britcoms first to attune yourself to British accents (I strongly recommend Black Books), and turn down the music volume a bit while cranking up the dialogue if you intend to have any idea of what's being said. It's by no means a tear-jerker that'll yank at the heart strings, but there's something poignant and sad and empathetic here all the same.

Stand proud, Dinner Date; you will be forever remembered. Perhaps not as the most enjoyable game, and perhaps barely as a game at all, but you've gone and done something Weird and Different, and I can certainly appreciate that.
