Great idea but insanely hard. All in the luck of what RE's you get and play what fate you are dealt.

Post-Apocalyptic themed management game of a vehicular convoy. (FTL?) Explore the wasteland in buggies that are buggy/unbalanced. but kinda fun. Game is easy to hack fortunately. It is too hard to play without cheating. nice mix of random encounters. Time management is what makes the game a bit hard. You have to push hard and it makes it harder. There are also game breaking setbacks, like running out of gas and things like that.

By the end of this game I thought it might even be impossible WITH cheating... You have a nice selection of weapon styles and mixed unit roles you can pick out as you like, also lots of overworld deicision making, and lots of RE's. It feels a bit rough and even bare bones in some spots.

Research would have been nice.
More focus on base building (c)ould have been awesome!
What I'm getting at is a play at your own pace mechanic implementation is the one thing I wish for most. (Would you like to roam, battle and rock it out in the wasteland or hold back a bit and focus on digging in at your base/research?) You are obliged and forced to rush and roam, …

You are obliged and forced to rush and roam, and that's what makes it most roguelike and kills you off. It's all in the luck of the RE's really to see how far you get, and play what you are dealt as best you can.

Like FTL meets Mad Max!

I had a hard time describing this game to my boss, who normally plays strategy style games and resource management games. I told him, it is a roguelike set on a desert planet with real time battles and special events that give different results depending on the decisions you make. I guess this sort of sounds like Fallout?

Anywho, the game is wonderful! So much fun having play this game. The updates have been coming along these past few weeks and they have added a lot of new units for you to unlock as well. If you liked Faster Than Light (this game heavily resembles it) then you'll love this game. If you have never played you will probably still enjoy it but understanding what might be happening the first game or two will be hard.

You begin with a scene of your interstellar ship failing, one of the engines and a few other spots of it blowing up. As the ship descends into the planet, you can see the desert behind it. You require parts to repair your ship, and the planet has a great deal of resources at hand. The only problem is there are different factions at …

The only problem is there are different factions at war on the planet and each of them will think nothing of killing you and taking all that you have. The ship is safe where you've landed, but riding out on your convoy and finding what you need will be quite a journey.

You start out with a MCV vehicle, and two other attack vehicles. These units differ by equipment vastly, especially as you unlock newer ones. Each unit has its pros and cons though, and some achievements can only be unlocked using a specific unit. Once you unlock that achievement you will most likely end up with a newer unit. The vehicles can be equipped with rockets, machine guns, lasers, plasma rifles, and so on. Each weapon has it's pros and cons and its upto you to decide how you want to fight. You can also deck out a vehicle to smash into other vehicles, and maneuver them into rocks and walls which is an instantaneous kill. Don't get yourself killed in the process though!

The game also has random special events that occur as you drive across the map. These events are pretty fun for the most part. You could end up finding some DnD sets in a barrel, or run into riders who wish to join you, or get attacked by a faction of the planet. A sandstorm could take the life of one of your crewmates and his vehicle, or you can run into weapons or parts buried in the sand. There is no telling what might happen depending on what you choose. I think this is the most redeeming quality of the game.

Aside from the random events that happen, there are also quest events that you will need to do in order to get your parts. These events branch off into several different possibilities that happen depending on what you choose. Each avenue of decisions will yield different results, some of them might be harder to get through battle-wise, and some of them might not require any battle at all.

This game is pretty inspired, and is going on my top tier list. If you enjoy games that branch off into different results depending on your choices, and a battle system that is action packed with lasers and rockets, this game is for you!

Been playing a lot of Convoy the past couple of days. Pretty great! Well put, one reviewer says it is kinda like FTL meets Mad Max, and I'm inclined to agree. It is pretty fun, but I keep having really bad luck. I'm one this one run now though and was able to get weapons on my main convoy vehicle. That heavy laser weapon rocks.
