I am on a journey to beat 360 random Xbox 360 games. Here's my next adventure
Game number 33 was Nail’d. This is a racing game where everyone races off road on ATVs. I feel like this is the spiritual sequel to the ATV offroad series on the PS2 and it honestly felt really good and fun to play.
There is no story here… just race until you become the best.
The controls for racing games are of the utmost importance and I am happy to say that the controls here feel perfect. There are some really sharp turns in some of these tracks and your atv has no problems getting around them. You are also going to be spending about a third of your time in the air and the handling in the air works as expected.
This game is also arcadey in that it has a boost feature. The boost is awesome and really makes you feel like you are going fast. Getting the boost is also really easy because every time you do anything that is worthy of a trophy you get boost points. Going through rings, ramming other cars, using boost in certain areas, and getting perfect landings will all give you boost and you will rarely be without it.
The campaign of Nail’d is both fun and exhausting. There are over 100 races and a large amount of them follow some sort of stupid gimmick. These can be time trial races, races where you can’t touch other cars, races where you get infinite boost, and, the worst, races where you need to collect the most trophy points. UGGGGGHHHHHH!!! Those races are miserable! You need to go through EVERY SINGLE ring and crash into as many cars as possible to even come close to first place. They are insufferable and way too difficult to do. Getting in first place isn’t too hard but keeping up with the points is a real pain in the ass. The one saving grace is that you get to proceed through the campaign as long as you get in 3rd place or better. (I didn’t get first place in every cup)
Overall, Nail’d is a fun little ATV racing game and may be the closest thing that the system has to the classic PS2 fun of ATV offroad racing. I have always enjoyed these types of xgames sports and think that the ATV racing is cool. It's a good thing that Nail’d controls very well… but I do not think that anyone should suffer through those trophy races in the main campaign. I’m going to say that this game is worth a pickup if its sitting in the bargain bin… but don’t go out of your way unless you are really craving ATV action on the 360. (7/10)
I spent 10 hours, 47 min, and 44 sec on Nail’d.
I have spent a total of 348 hours and 55 min on the Road to 360 challenge so far.
