As I go further along in this game, the more disappointed I am in its mechanics. This game was made with a shoestring budget and nostalgia for the fans. Aside from the basic turn-based combat there's not much else going on. All you do in the game is wander from cutscene to cutscene with a bit of grinding in between so that you can be ready for the boss battles. It's great to experience the story in a new medium, but I think it could have been so much better if given more time or a better budget. Battles are basic, cutscene animations are lazy. Best parts of the game are decent cinematics (on the PSP) and the feeling of accomplishment you get upon unlocking a new evolution.

I've watched the series a few times over at this point, so it's really refreshing to experience the story in a different way (despite the fact that I'm actually in the middle of a rewatch). Definitely gonna pick up a physical import of this when I can just to have it in my collection.
