Crash-landed on a desolate, alien planet, what should've been a routine work-for-hire job for Powell has become a deadly mission to save the merchant vessel Morningstar and her crew. With one man dead and the captain gravely injured, Powell is on his own to repair the ship and find a way to escape the strange gravity well of the empty planet they've landed on. And if the situation weren't dire enough, the only signs of life on the planet are the remains of a much larger and better equipped ship and her crew, all dead, and not by natural means. … More

And if the situation weren't dire enough, the only signs of life on the planet are the remains of a much larger and better equipped ship and her crew, all dead, and not by natural means. What--or who--brought down these ships and is killing their crews? For what reason? And can Powell find a way off-planet before he shares the same fate? Less

Distinctly underwhelming

This was just OK. I purchased this in the hopes of finding a spacey adventure game with an intense atmosphere like that of The Dig (both involve mostly solitary exploration of strange, desolate alien environments), but was left distinctly underwhelmed by the game in general.

It's diverting enough, with sufficient mileage to absorb somewhat for a few hours, but the plot and characters are basic and lacklustre.

Nice casual adventure game

Pro

  • Solid voice acting, which seems to be rare for the genre.
  • Overall the puzzles are decent.
  • Good graphics for an indie game.
  • Excellent 'hints' button.
  • Nice to see a casual point & click game in a (well-done) sci-fi setting.

Con

  • Some clickable areas are hard to spot, i had to use a walkthrough 2-3 times.
  • Limited map travel and just a tad too much backtracking.
  • Inventory gets a bit cluttered.
  • I wanted to combine two items but another item had to be added first for no reason, making me think i was doing the wrong thing.
  • It's a bit short (90 minutes) for a €10 game.

Conclusion

Fans of casual adventures/puzzles and hidden object games should give Descent to Deadrock a try, it's an excellent offering by a small developer.

This is an okay point and click adventure. Your aim in the game is to repair your ship which has crash landed on a mysterious planet. The story is good, as are the controls. It does run into the adventure game problem of having a bit too much inventory to deal with - it seems like it could have been reduced for clarity (i.e. do we need both a steel pipe and a steel rod to solve problems?) This resulted in some mindless attempts at combining objects.
