Beat the game on default difficulty. I played the first level as Luke and was dismayed to find he no longer has a blaster. By the time of the first boss I was seriously wishing I had a blaster. The 2nd level was ridiculously hard with enemies that have way too much health. I gave up on Luke and went with Chewie for a ranged attack; it did not really help until the boss, which was trivial with seekers. I played every level possible as Han because of ranged attack and grenades. On one hand I do appreciate how the different characters are balanced better than the first games and how you start off with basic blasters each level, but it does make a very difficult game even harder.

I tried out Leia each time and liked how she changed graphically and tactically each time, but never did any levels as her. By the time I reached Endor I was thinking how cool it would be to play an Ewok, and I was pleasantly surprised. I had to look up a guide though because I did not know his arrows could be jumped on. Some of the levels were too large and confusing with so many same looking screens. Luke's level on Endor was particularly exasperating and really could have used a map. All of the bosses were easier than the other games.

The flight sim levels were greatly improved. Flying around with the millennium falcon shooting down ties was the best part of the series but I found it too difficult to judge position to pick up health. The final level flying through the Death Star sucked and I gave up on beating it. Not only is it my least liked style of flying (high speed narrow corridors with obstacles) but it is too difficult even with save states.

Overall I think this is the best game in the trilogy. Very well made but still very high difficulty.
