The game also features more of a sci-fi emphasis than past titles with the ability to control your own ship. This ship is quite large, and is able to land on at least 5 planets or other space-based destinations. Players are able to travel through the "star ocean," jumping across planets. The game takes place a few centuries before the original Star Ocean (around S.D. 10, or approximately 2087 AD). The game's plot revolves around Edge and his crew combating a mysterious threat called the "Grigori". An international version of the game was released by Square Enix as a worldwide PlayStation 3-exclusive on February 9, 2010. Officially known as Star Ocean: The Last Hope International, the game contains both Japanese and English voices as well as new content that is exclusive to the international version of the game. Less

L'ultima speranza

Voto: 8/10

Fun battle system. But some of the characters are awful... Namely the cat kid that is almost naked and the woman with angel wings. I liked everyone else. And the story was fun--especially the part with alternate Earth.

So glad I did buy the digital version of this game. (The one remastered) I had heard of this game of course and even checked the battle system and I guess I did not like it back then but now I tried and although very confusing for a newby, I enjoyed it a lot. So much that I checked if there are other games and yes they are. I purchased a second hand copy of Star Ocean Integrity and Faithlessness plus the strategy guide. When it arrived with a heavy heart I quit playing this game because I want to wait till my also ordered strategy guide arrives so I began Star Ocean 5 but can't wait to get back into this game.

Back-burner for now. Got 40 hours in, but the sidequests before the last area are a little tedious. Will come back and finish it later... maybe.

It's quite remarkable how much they've managed to make me dislike Edge. He's turned into a really obnoxious little shit, and it really hurts the story.

~16 hours in now. Edge's little tantrum after meeting Meracle is really obnoxious, I dunno who wrote that but they did a terrible, terrible job with it. It just makes me want to turn the game off. So cringeworthy.

~3 hours in so far, having fun thus far. Combat system is pretty excellent. Field movement kind of sucks, you get caught on random terrain frequently and movement on the field seems sloppy. But it's easy enough to overlook when the combat is fun.
