This looks like a great game for its time, but by today's standards it's too dated technically. This is the general reason why racing games don't age well. Especially, in the simulator racing subgenre, where graphics and technical performance are the defining factors of the whole experience authenticity. What I like about FM1 is the old-style career structure, which has been left almost intact in FM2, and playing a racing game without a rewind feature was nice for a change. Vehicle damage model is pretty cool to see especially compared to the Gran Turismo series, which didn't have it even at GT5 launch 5 years later. Unfortunately, framerate, while making the game feel slow, kept me from enjoying it. And the music.. well, the original score by Junkie XL is neither anything extraordinary, nor did it age well. Anyway, it was fun to visit the origins of the long-running sim racing series.
