I have been trying so hard to go through this game, having never played any other version of it, and I just can't do it. I can tell that if I had played and loved one of the 2D versions of this game, I'd probably really enjoy getting to go through it in VR. But the problem is, I have no good feelings about this game yet, and it honestly doesn't do a good job of ingratiating itself to me as a gamer playing in VR in 2023.
The problem I have with it is that the game is not beautiful or interesting to look at -- I do not enjoy being inside these drab, brown environments, and the gameplay, while a fun and more than competent VR shooter, does not set itself apart enough and does not resonate with me enough to keep me going.
I thought that the VR nature of this would be the "the thing" that allowed me to finally enjoy a Resident Evil game, but I think that VR or no, Resident Evil just plain is not for me.
