Pop'n Pop is a puzzle game similar to Puzzle Bobble; the player's goal is to release colored bubbles from the bottom on the screen within a limited amount of time, trying to match three or more bubbles of the same color. The difference in this version is that bubbles cannot bounce on the walls; the player can only release them vertically. The game features characters from various Taito games, such as Bub and Bob from the Bubble Bobble series, Tiki from The New Zealand Story, the dwarves from Doko Doko Don, and others.

Pop'n Pop is an old and obscure "falling block" puzzle game of sorts featuring various Taito characters (including a favorite of mine... Pocky from Pocky and Rocky [aka Sayo-chan from KiKi KaiKai]). The game reminds me a bit of Magical Drop, but with balloons. A bunch of variously colored balloons slowly move down the screen (Space Invader-style), and you want to clear them with sets of balloons you shoot up two at a time (three or more of the same color, and they pop). So I guess you could say it's all rather Bust-a-Move (aka Puzzle Bobble) as well.

The thing is though, I just don't find this one any fun. Aiming is a pain, the simplicity of it all gets dull quick, and they really pushed a kiddie vibe for its presentation I didn't care for. I'll just stick with Bust-a-Move.
