Now, if you're an adult you have to go into this game realizing that you are basically getting a kids game with some adult themes. It looks, feels and plays like a kids game. You're not getting really complicated gameplay here, but even as a guy who is almost 30 I enjoyed it.
The graphics aren't incredible, but they're decent and the art design is pretty inspired. It's a colourful world (duh) with an interesting style. The world is vibrant and alive, and the kiddy look actually helps create an intriguing world populated by weird looking beings.
The gameplay is overly simplistic, and I'm knocking it down a bit for that. Namely, the platforming just requires you to hold down space and guide your guy in the right direction. This isn't really forgivable in a platformer, because even kids could handle more precision-based platforming (seriously, we've had that since Mario). The combat is also incredibly easy, with very little variety present... though I'm more forgiving of that due to the fact kids don't need complicated battles. It's a throwback to games like Crash Bandicoot where there was melee combat but it was pretty straight forward.
The story is actually pretty cool. It's got a dystopian feel where people are segregated because of their colours. It's basically Dystopia 101, but for a kids game, or at least a game that is very family/kid friend? It's deep.
I noticed some bugs in it, like characters that are following me getting me stuck so I can't move.
But really, this is a pretty solid game.
