Defend the most dangerous and gorgeous (we say darngeous) dungeons as four plucky heroes with this unique combo of tower-defense gameplay, ability-based action RPG combat, ever-lasting endgame loot, couch co-op, and online multiplayer. Experience the front-lines of tower defense with friends and fellow defenders — fighting off ferocious hordes in a stunning 3D fantasy world. Four unique heroes, a satisfying RPG leveling system, and an ever-addictive endgame with procedurally generated loot — DD:A celebrates the creativity and collaboration that can only come from four friends trapped in a dungeon against endless waves of orcs with dynamite.

Intro

The Dungeon Defenders games are tower defense games in which you also control a character that fights, repairs, upgrades, collects items, etc.

Review

I never cared much for the Dungeon Defenders series and this sort-of remaster of the first (?) game shows the weakness of the formula.

There's an extremely limited amount of towers per character (4). Combat is extremely dull with only one weapon type per character and only a couple of abilities. There is no mazing and towers always have to be placed close together because they can be attacked, so no room for creativity there. Perhaps the worst is the tedious loot-shooter style deluge of shitty, boring, nearly identical items with such exiting stats as "+1 attribute".

I absolutely love the genre and i'm still disappointed every time i try one of these games. The Sanctum and Orcs Must Die games are infinitely better in basically every way.
