Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection (2015)

The Nathan Drake Collection is a fantastic collection of top quality games that you won't want to put down. Great storytelling and likeable characters with talented voice actors. Mix that with an addicting gameplay loop of thrilling climbs, intense shootouts against what feels like entire armies, and solving ancient puzzles all in order to inch you closer to each game's mysterious treasures.

All three games have the same feel, each adding small improvements and differences to the former's formula. That doesn't stop them all from feeling like their own entirely epic stories, though. It shocked me that I got so invested with the length of these games. I believe each one took me about ten hours to complete(not 100%). I think the length is one of this series' strong suits, though. The story isn't unnecessarily drawn out, and you aren't given a chance to grow tired of the gameplay loop. This also makes them perfect games to play back to back.(I even went straight from this to play Uncharted 4, I am so hooked).

While I know they aren't perfect games, and there are valid complaints to be made, I can't think of any at the moment. Maybe when my infatuation with the series fades a little, I will come back to it and can adjust properly. But right now, I'd say this is one of my favorite game series of all time. I highly recommend it!

I'm a decade late, but still glad I got to experience them all the way through. I remember trying to get through Uncharted 2 back in 2018 but got bored pretty fast. Luckily, I managed to make my way through all 3 pretty quickly thanks to this collection running much smoother than the original ps3 versions, as well as being able to use the much improved Dual Shock 4 controller over a shitty third party ps3 controller. It was actually pretty nice to play them all in succession since you can tell the little improvements that are made from game to game. Drake's Fortune is very rough around the edges, and feels pretty dated compared to the rest of the trilogy. The story is practically non-existent as well, which is a shame since the cast is still pretty likable.

Among Thieves is where Uncharted really sets its roots with the fucking crazy action set pieces and much improved shooting. The story beats are much more developed, and the cast of characters is a lot more entertaining than the first game. There's plenty of fun sequences and cut scenes here, and loads of gameplay highlights. The train sequence is arguably the highlight of the series, and still holds up today. I still dislike the constant climbing segments, but at least there is nothing as bullshit as the jetski section from Drake's Fortune.

Drake's Deception has far-and-away the bust gun play, with plenty of set pieces and environments that were way more interesting than most of the locales from the first two games. The shipyard stealth / shootout section was really fucking fun, and the gunplay was given a much needed overhaul to make guns more accurate, so everything feels a lot more satisfying. Facial animations are still a little stiff though, but boring climbing segments seemed to get toned down a lot for more emphasis on environmental exploration. The climax of Drake's Deception does lose some points though for being a very unfitting end to a villain who I absolutely fucking hated.

Overall, the series is pretty much what it says on the box, fun third person shooting and climbing segments. Must've been crazy impressive at the time but the lesser elements like the extended, boring climbing sections or the sometimes unfinished story elements are much more apparent today, especially if you've played Naughty Dog's newer titles. Still worth going through if you haven't given them a shot, but I don't think they are must plays unless you demand to see every single ND IP through.

I finally understand why most game reviewers and famous gamers on Youtube really recommend to play the Uncharted. Dude, the game is the full package! If you want to experience thrilling action and mystery with a little touch of romance and comedy on the side, then this game is spot on. The Uncharted is a series that would make you want to ask for more. It's a game you would really love to keep on playing for days and the game you'll surely miss playing once you've beaten it. I love Uncharted 3 for its improved gameplay action and thrilling set pieces. But I have to admit I enjoyed Uncharted 2 the best from all the games in this collection.

At first I gave this game only 3 starts. But yesterday.. or it was a day before yesterday? Whatever, when I finished 3rd chapter I changed my mind completely. Also from the remake perspective game looks much better than PS3 version.

First game.

Well, I played a lot TR(Tomb Raider) when I was a child and finished TRR several times so I can't praise Uncharted: Drake’s Fortuner at all. Pretty good story but gameplay is really plain. You can shoot, climb walls and do some puzzles, that's pretty much concludes the game. Same enemies through all areas. Also a small word about shooting. Enemies are everywhere. Like literally. And killing them is most boring thing in the game. Kills first 10 soldiers, proceed to next area and kill another 20. After that rinse and repeat. You get it. Most of the time you are standing behind cover because snipers oneshot you if you try to move freely. You can play it for story, because gameplaywise it's really bad for today's market.

Second game -- Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

Same flaws as first. Boring fights and a lot of enemies. But they added improved melee attacks and some kind of stealth mechanic so you have a little bit more time before you get boring. Also story has same pattern (cursed treasure and uber-monster at the end of the game) and pretty uninteresting.

Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception

1. Great story
2. Different enemies. Like if you are fighting in a city they are wearing jackets and suits, if you are fighting them in desert they are wearing lite clothes and even robes.
3. Top-notch direction. Escape from burning castle or from drowning ship was really good.
4. Great scenery and level design.
5. Nice melee QTE. It's pretty simple but you won't get boring with only shooting.
6. Jokes and dialog. They are brilliant.
7. Interesting puzzles.
8. Normal amount of enemies on the map.

So I give 3 stars to first two chapters and 5 to third. They improved so much. Can't wait to see what 4th chapter has instore for me :)

Such a great trilogy especially because I didn´t know these games at all. The only thing I didn´t like about Uncharted 1 and Uncharted 2 were those supernatural enemies (endbosses). I would have prefered to fight normal people who are stronger or better attacking than others. Still Uncharted 2 and Uncharted 3 are some of my most favorite videogames nowadays! Surprising and fascinating. It´s an honor to play those perfect Naughty Dog games! Can´t wait to play Uncharted 4 and Last Of Us 2.

So just finished this rollercoaster of a ride and I've got to say it was absolutely storming good fun.

The games may well be so linear they're almost on rails, and the story has plenty of cheese moments, but it makes a damn good job of making you feel like you're smack bang in the middle of all the action and the whole world is falling to pieces all around you in some sort of Indiana Jones / Lara Croft / "Disaster movie of choice" fashion

1 was the weakest by far, but 2&3 make up for it in spades.

Off to buy Uncharted 4 now, i'll see how much the collectors edition costs, as I'm discovering that I'm becoming a bit partial to spending money on physical stuff (and it looks nice on a shelf).

So I've just finished Uncharted 1: Drakes Fortune, as part of this collection. I'd just like to say that it is most definitely fun. I've never played any "Uncharted" before, but the Last of Us (same developer) represents a peak in story based gameplay for me.

I have to accept that this was originally released in 2007, so things have moved on considerably since then. To begin with it feels like some sort of Tomb Raider vs Indiana Jones rip off, with a half arsed story tagged on. The most annoying part seems to be the gun battles / firefights, they feel like they are getting in the way of the game rather than being part of it (...how many times did I think to myself "not another bloody gun battle", "how many more waves of baddies" etc.). Despite it's faults though it was fun and I look forward to what Uncharted 2 has instal for me.

Uncharted: Drakes Fortune HD Review

A great but flawed action-adventure game. The gameplay and story are great but nothing spectacular, but the characters and graphics are great. The climbing is generally fun, but it can be frustrating when it's tough to know what to grab next, as you're along a fixed path, and having to start over just isn't fun. Some of the later firefights can be intensely frustrating as well despite some solid shooting mechanics, and the cover system feels a bit off at times. Overall a good game, but it pales in comparison to the sequels.
