Fortified is a hybrid tower defense/shooter game, like Sanctum 2 and Orcs Must Die 2.
The 1950s theme is mildly amusing at first, until you realise all enemies are boring robots. The characters only characteristic is that they annoy you by constantly repeating their one line: "that looks like it packs a wallop". There's a very limited variety in traps, weapons and upgrades. There are no skills and every character has only one ability. You can only pick 2 weapons and 6 traps in your layout.
There are only 12 maps and you have to play them in order. If you want to switch to a different character you have to level it all over again. The first seven maps can be beaten by the same combination of freeze gun/dynamite gun + freezing wall trap/AA gun.
There's no room for creativity and you can't even build a maze or otherwise redirect enemies. This is especially bad since the game has almost no players and maps get more entrances and exits as the game progresses. Map 8 has 3 of each and i lost because the final wave suddenly had two big hordes. At this point i decided i'd rather reinstall …

Map 8 has 3 of each and i lost because the final wave suddenly had two big hordes. At this point i decided i'd rather reinstall Sanctum or Orcs Must Die. Both have far more content and are more fun in every way. And they also cost €15, so there's absolutely no reason to get this half-finished game.
