I knew this game was coming, but didn't really follow it up to its release on the 15th (on Switch, anyway).
It's free to play, and it's honestly really beautiful. A lot of cozy games with farming and item placement/building tend to have controls that don't jive super well for me, or are otherwise tedious. Palia gets some major points …

It's free to play, and it's honestly really beautiful. A lot of cozy games with farming and item placement/building tend to have controls that don't jive super well for me, or are otherwise tedious. Palia gets some major points for how simple and effective it is to do these tasks. I don't tend to have a lot of faith in what the Switch can run, especially with an online game, but it's all pretty smooth. Once you leave your homestead and enter town where other players are running around, it's a little stuttery sometimes, but it's not too bad, and I've had no crashes.
They do have a cash shop, but it's just for outfits. They're INSANELY expensive. I know the game is free and I guess it's a way to keep things running, but holy shittt. Per my perusal, getting 5100 of the paid currency is like $48. Most of the outfits are between 1700-2500 coins. That's like $20+ for a single outfit. They're all bundled to where you can buy all three variations of the given outfit for a discount, but pretty much all of those bundles are around 5000 coins.
