The main purpose of the game is to make it to the finish line with the truck's cargo. Players are given a set amount of time, but can ram into special vans that will add three seconds to the timer. There are several characters to choose from, each with a unique truck and attributes. The game starts out in Key West and players travel across the United States, ending in San Francisco. After Stage 1, the game gives the player a choice of trailer. One trailer is harder to haul, but provides a bigger payoff while the other choice is easier to haul but provides a smaller payoff. Money is deducted from the total when the trailer is hit. Players can sound the truck's horn to make other cars on the road yield and slipstream behind large vehicles to gain a momentary speed boost. In addition to the time limit, players also compete with the "Lizard Tail", a rival trucker. Crossing the finish line before the Lizard Tail yields additional money. In between levels, players can park the truck in a mini game to earn more cash. Read less

18 Minutes of Fun

enter image description here

Now I played the Playstation2 version. So I bet it's cooler and more fun in an actual arcade, but there's still not loads to offer. It's Crazy Taxi but with 18 Wheelers and you drive from one destination to another. A few levels, a few vehicles, with monotonous voice acting YELLING during the races as you crash and take out …

Arcade racing game about driving semi-truck: You deliver your cargo before your rival within the time limit. Fun to play.

Intriguing

This game made me realize how difficult it is to drive an eighteen wheeler. While it has some fun components, the game is mainly just over the top and can get to be a little much at times.

Arcade racing game where you drive a semi-truck... AKA a big rig, a semi-trailer, a trailer truck, just a semi, just a truck... or an 18-wheeler. It's silly nonsense, but it works well enough for a quick go at it in the arcade once or twice. I played the Dreamcast port of it, and it plays fine. You drive across …

You drive across the US (in a couple minutes) and try to get to each checkpoint before time runs out. You have a really obnoxious rival truck driver you can try to beat for bonus points. I think they could have played up the silliness of it all more, poke fun at the culture behind it all more. Also, there are only a few tracks, and they go by really quick.

Now that I think about it, I wonder if a "Crazy Taxi" formula would've worked better for this one. Really play up that you're driving this massive vehicle, so you drive straight through all the buildings you need to in order to get to the next drop-off point in time. Let us pull off crazy drifts with the big rigs, damn it!
