Webfishing feels like an expanded take on the fishing in Animal Crossing crossed with some light web chatroom elements. I've been having a great time popping into various lobbies when I can't decide on something else to do and just fishing while listening to others talk. And sometimes I'll actually chat too, lol.
Fishing is simple but there's a satisfying upgrade system that encourages catching all the fish in each of the available rarities. You can also unlock a bunch of silly cosmetic items to customize your face, clothes, and other stuff.
Here's me fishing the other day, giving the camera a big ol' smile.

Not really a review, just some thoughts based on not that much playtime: I have determined that I like this as an idea, but don't really want to play much of it. The mouse & keyboard movement and camera feel sort of slow and clunky to me, while the fishing is made more involved through some timed mashing of the mouse button. I can't do that since it particularly aggravates my tendency to get hand and wrist pain, but disabling it in the accessibility options leaves the gameplay feeling a bit boring when fishing is almost the entire game. In Animal Crossing, it's just one diversion among many, so it doesn't matter that there's not much to it, and that game is also a lot smoother to operate in general. The camera perspective helps there I think. This would work much better gameplay-wise on Switch, but it can't really be there since it's also built around being a chatroom. I'm not ultimately that interested in doing a lot of that chatting or the character customization stuff, so for me personally there isn't really enough pulling me to it, even though on paper I wouldn't mind something building off of Animal …

A case where I could probably use something between 2 and 3 stars to accurately capture how I feel about it.

Starting to think I need to play this game, the devs seem to have a pretty good sense of humour.
Hanging out with my girlfriend in this game was so much fun. No thoughts. Only fishy.
