Before we Had Pocket Monsters, we Had... Monsters in My Pocket!...
This review is for the Nintendo Entertainment System version

Fun Fact. The Pts. Had to do with how powerful the monsters were... so yes, it was in fact a crude Monster Battler system, hehehe. I like how that sort of translated into the game: Harder enemies that go down with more hits are worth more 'pts' and every 500 of them you get an extra life.

enter image description hereMimP feels a bit like T.M.N.T. mixed in with the settings and levels of Rescue Rangers. Playing it isn't as satisfying as either, unfortunately.

supports two player Co-Op, so best played with a friend (I guess?)

NES Lookback - Monster in My Pocket
This review is for the Nintendo Entertainment System version

Based on the popular toys from the 80s-90s, Monster in My Pocket is the quintessential 3 star NES game. What do I mean by that? I mean that while you are playing it, you will have fun, and likely enjoy the experience, but once you are done playing it, you won't remember much about it at all, or have a desire to revisit it again.

Playing as either a vampire or Frankenstein's Monster, you go around a house defeating other evil monsters. The levels play into the fact that you are small monsters, as items like big keys, boom boxes and other objects are both weapons you can use, as well as things you can scale to reach different areas.

The game is not overly challenging and you should be able to complete it in 45 minutes to an hour.

Again, nothing terrific about this and nothing terrible either. A solid game to scratch an itch and then you can move on.

Preliminary: If it weren't for the gimmick of being tiny with large cheeses and household objects, I don't think I would have kept playing this. I kept debating about giving it a 2 star and moving on

For the most part, everything is just average. epitomal 3 star NES game like kingbk said. I like how it gives me a bit of a Castlevania feel with the enemy mechanics, and it seems well-designed where you get a series of Hearts after a particularly tough area etc. However, it never surpasses average (so far. I'm at the third stage rn).

Welllll. actually. With the bosses taking way too many repeated hits and the music and Look quite lackluster for 92, and that I'm already irritated on Stage 3 of 6, it's really a 2 star and move on for me. I was hoping the "tiny in the normal world" gimmick would help boost it but they don't achieve enough with the Look and Feel of that gimmick, even when compared to late 80s and 90/91 C64 games that did the same. Moving on

I just became a fan of Monster in My Pocket for the NES. It is weird that I never came across it when I was growing up.
